136. First aid 4
(sound of traffic noises)
Girl: "School of life part 3. First Aid."
Have you ever seen a hospital in which there were no doctors or nurses?
Such a place did exist. It didn’t actually look like a hospital, but like a swimming pool with two separate pools. The whole facility was surrounded by four arched porticos, and a hallway separated the two pools.
Many sick people lay there. But no doctor treated them. There was no first aid. And there was no ambulance for emergencies.
The sick people constantly looked at the water. It was said that an angel touched the water now and then. Whoever was first in the water after that was healed. And they all wanted to be healed! Especially a crippled man. He hoped to receive first aid from the water.
Man: "I can’t take my eyes off of the water. There, it’s moving! I have to be the first one to get into the water. (sound of sighing) I’m too late again. I’ll never make it."
Disappointed, he lay down on his mat once more. He had been waiting for 38 years for 'first aid'.
One day someone visited him.
Jesus: "Do you want to be healed?"
Man: "Yes, but I don’t have anyone who can take me to the water. Someone always gets into the water before I can get there."
Jesus: "Stand up! Pick up your mat and walk."
The man stood up and was healed. First aid without a needle or band-aid. Totally healthy after 38 years! I wonder if the others were happy for him?
Pharisee: "What do you think you’re doing? Today is the Sabbath. On this day of rest it’s forbidden to carry your bed."
Man: "The man who healed me told me to pick up my mat and go."
Pharisee: "Who was that?"
Man: "I don’t know. I didn’t see him again."
Do you know who it was? Right. It was the Lord Jesus. He gives first aid the best. Not just for our bodies, but also for our souls. He helps and saves gladly.
When He talked with the healed man later, He gave him some good advice.
Jesus: "You are healthy now. Don’t be unjust and sin no more so that nothing worse will happen to you.“
I can imagine what Jesus meant. Can you, too?
