72. A sensation on the water

A sensation on the Sea of Galilee!

Peter: "I am so excited about Jesus. I can hardly believe it: With five loaves of bread and two fish He fed 5000 men, plus all the women and children – and everyone ate till they were satisfied."

Disciple: "Did you see how much was left over? It was a lot more than what He started with."

Peter: "Super, out of a little, He can make a lot."

Jesus, the Son of God, is unique. He can make a lot of out a little.

The people were impressed by this miracle and went back to their homes in the evening. Then Jesus entered into the disciple’s conversation.

Jesus: "Get in the boat and sail to the other side."

He didn’t get in the boat, but climbed a mountain to pray.

The disciple’s rowed across the lake in the night without Jesus. Suddenly a storm sprung up. The fishermen took down the sails. The first wave crashed into the boat. If only Jesus were with them in this scary situation. They were afraid and cried out. But then it got worse.

Peter: "Over there, do you see that? It’s a ghost!"

Disciple: "I can’t stand it anymore."

A white form moved over the water and came directly toward their boat. The disciples screamed. But it was no ghost.

Jesus: "Take courage, it is me! Don’t be afraid!"

The disciples recognized this voice. It was Jesus. Peter was the first who dared to speak.

Peter: "Lord Jesus, if it’s really You, then command me to come to You on the water."

Jesus: "Come!"

Amazing! Peter climbed out of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. As long as he looked at Jesus, everything went well. But when he looked at the waves, he started to sink.

Peter: "Lord, save me! Help me!"

Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of Peter and saved him.

Jesus, the Son of God, is unique – He saves!

Jesus: "Trust Me. Give me your whole heart."

Peter climbed back into the boat with Jesus. The storm grew still and the wind stopped. Everyone kneeled before Jesus and bowed before this wonderful Lord.

Peter: "You are the Son of God!"

Jesus, the Son of God, is unique. Nothing is impossible with Him.

He doesn’t demand that you walk on water. But walk where you are with Jesus. In every situation He will lead and help you.
