65. Missing for three days

(Sound of travelers on the road)

1st traveler: "I’m not going to forget this celebration very quickly."

2nd traveler: "It was wonderful."

1st traveler: "We are privileged. We have a God who has freed us. Next year I’m going to go again to Jerusalem."

Mary: "Peace to you. Have you seen our son?"

Joseph: "He’s missing. He’s 12 years old."

2nd traveler: "Maybe he went ahead with some of the others."

Mary and Joseph searched for Jesus. It was his first time with them in Jerusalem. On the way home, he had suddenly disappeared.

Mary: "Joseph, I’m worried about him."

Joseph: "We need to turn back and look for him in the city."

They asked everywhere about their 12-year-old son. No one had seen Jesus. After three days, they finally found Him in the temple. They were amazed, because He was in God’s house and was discussing the Bible with Bible teachers. They were also amazed at His questions and answers.

Mary: "Why are you staying here? We looked all over for you and were worried about you."

Jesus: "Why did you search for me? Didn’t you know that I would be in my Father’s house?"

For the first time, Jesus called God his Father and in this way introduced Himself as God’s son.

And Jesus, the Son of God, was once a child like you. He was fully human. He laughed and cried as you do. He ate and slept as you do. He had to learn, just like you do. He always obeyed his parents, like you do. I can hear you laughing! Don’t you always obey your parents?

In the Bible it says: Children, obey your parents. Jesus always obeyed. He never said or did anything sinful. He never lied, never stole. He was without sin. Obeying was a joy to Him. That’s why he returned with Mary and Joseph to Nazareth.

If you want to obey Jesus, He will help you to follow His example. Ask Him and He will forgive you of all your disobedience.

When you choose to live with Him, He will help you to live in such a way that pleases God.

When Jesus lives in your heart, it can even be fun to carry out the trash or wash the dishes or empty the dishwasher. It’s worth trying to live with Jesus.
